aluminum babe
New York band’s new single, UK tour,
Radio 1 Session!

"Take The Cardigans, rub off their shiny surface and stick them in a filthy underground club and you may get an approximation of Aluminum Babe…they yank the bittersweet guitar song violently into funky disco terrain and then gently lick it with a creamy female falsetto. Aluminum Babe not only bop to disco while rocking to guitars, but they wield a sensual, subtle electronic undercurrent…highly recommended" - Rock Sound (8/10), April 2005

“Songs like Everything 2 Me use Anna’s raw and quirky voice wonderfully…they should be applauded for sounding fresh and original in 2005 despite influences rooted firmly in the 70s”Classic Rock (7/10), May 2005

"Vitrified is a belting affair that ought to have anyone associated with Veruca Salt or Luscious Jackson going, 'Damn! That's what we re trying to sound like all the time!'." - PlayLouder.com

"Aluminum Babe's live show is explosive, a sexy tug-o-war between The Ramones and The Hives vs. Blondie and The Cardigans" - Inside NYC

What do dance music, The Sex Pistols and Swedish kids' songs have in common? Ask the "babe" in aluminum babe, Anna, who drew her musical inspiration from these elements in her hometown of Stockholm. Her band is now making its mark on its adopted hometown of New York, with its spunky punk rock mixed with coy pop edges.

aluminum babe was born in New York when singer Anna met bassist Jorge, later recruiting Darren on drums and guitarist Joseph. The band recorded their self-titled debut EP at Mother West Studios in NYC, displaying a rich repertoire of catchy gems, and started gigging around New York, before playing an enthusiastically-received tour of Sweden, releasing "aluminum babe", the EP, in May, 2003.

The band developed a blend of hi-energi disco-pop, and have built up a huge fanbase in New York after playing extensively in the city’s clubs. In November of 2003 aluminum babe made their way to the UK for a tour, culminating in a sold out show with Yumi Yumi, returning to the UK again last year to build on their fast-growing fanbase over here. Aluminum babe played short tours of the UK at the start of 2005 and again in April to support the release of their debut album, Vit-Ri-Fied, and return next month to support the release of their new single, when they will also be recording a session for the Radio 1 Evening Session!

Their debut album VIT-RI-FIED is out now, and the new single – the DJ Downfall remix of EVERYTHING 2 ME – is out on MONDAY OCTOBER 3rd, both on Velocity Recordings, distributed by Cargo
