ELECTRIC
EEL SHOCK "NME always dreamed of a band like Japan's Electric Eel Shock. A band willing and able to rid the world of sexually retarded indie schmindie dullards while spunking in the face of accepted notions of cool. Tonight Electric Eel Shock will do both of these things and more besides. For, one night only, Electric Eel Shock are the best band in the world. Like the mutated offspring of 80's Call hardcore crew Black Flag and comedy metal gods GWAR, Electric Eel Shock believe in the power of spectacle As sexy as and exciting as Simon Cowell in an M1 pile-up, Electric Eel Shock rock NME's world." James Jam, NME, 16.8.03, reviewing EES live in Newcastle. "Electric Eel Shock - Japanese garage-rock done Iron Maiden-style - might as well have stepped off a spacecraft, so unorthodox and and untainted is their style. Here's a band who genuinely love metal in all its variant forms, and couldn't give a damn what you tag them. Electric Eel Shock cavort and jerk across the stage like live insects on a hot grill. Frontman Aki Morimoto screams the words 'heavy met-aaaal' repeatedly, flicking the devil sign and dry-humping his Flying V. Meanwhile, drummer Gian Ito gets semi-naked and talks gibberish. None of this would mean shit if Electric Eel Shock's songs weren't so damn wonderful. But when they play 'Do The Metal' and 'Zombie Rock 'N' Roll', their innocent joy of performance, and love of song, draws you in and traps you. There are probably only places on the sun less hot than 'Rock 'N' Roll Can Rescue The World' - it's one of the catchiest songs you'll ever hear. And maybe, in the hands of bands like this, rock 'n' roll can still do just that." KKKK Steve Beebee, Kerrang! 14.4.04, reviewing live @ Nottingham Rock City. Electric Eel Shock shifted their base from New York to London in January last year, having left their native Japan sometime at the end of the last century. They began relentlessly touring every rock club toilet known to European man. EES took time off the road at the beginning of 2004 to go into 2KHz studios in London and recorded the best of the material they have been playing live to such acclaim. The resultant 'Electic Eel Shock Go Europe' album, released on July 19th on Demolition Records, marketed and distributed by Dreamcatcher, is nothing short of an electric, exhilarating, romping rock masterpiece! Electric Eel Shock are previewing 'Electic Eel Shock Go Europe' with a headline gig at the Infinity Club, 10 Old Burlington Street, W1, on June 8th and have also been confirmed to play Truck Festival 25th July and at the Bulldog Bash on August 14th. They can also be found playing many festivals throughout Europe this summer. Going
