***NEW ‘INSOMNIA’ ALBUM RELEASED AUGUST 6TH
ON SURBURBAN NOIZE /
14 DATE SEPTEMBER UK TOUR
***

“As with their previous career peak, ‘Broke’, the LA nerks’ fifth full-length is ridiculously, unexpectedly enjoyable. Raw, punky and and stripped down, the likes of ‘Novus Ordus Clitoris’ and ‘Lock and Load’ reveal a band still burning with a wicked delight at their own foul deeds.” KKKK Dom Lawson, Kerrang! June 10th 2006, reviewing ‘Back 2 Base X’.

“We ain’t talking Limp Bizkit, or any of those others who cynically sniffed a trend. Like the Bad Brains, these boyz are for life – and that’s why ‘Back 2 Base X’ not only entertains, but bristles with some strong moments. The punk-reggae fusion of ‘Beware Do We Go From Here’ and the snapping, groovesome ‘Let’s Ride’ show it’s still possible to combine politico passion with the rap-metal sound – and give everyone the 2006 one-finger salute.” Malcolm Dome, Metal Hammer July 2006.

(hed)p.e., the five-piece band from Huntington Beach, California who fuse hip-hop, metal and ‘70’s punk rock into their own unique, raucous ‘G-Punk’ sound, are set to release their sixth studio album, ‘Insomnia’, on Suburban Noize, distributed by RSK Entertainment, on August 6th.

‘Insomnia’, packed with 14 songs, is an even more accomplished album than 2006’s highly acclaimed ‘Back 2 Base X’, offering. ‘Insomnia’ is an infectious collection of gritty, political, provocative, rousing, fiery rock anthems interspersed with sublime reggae rhythms and hip hop grooves. Packed with hilariously non-PC lyrics, ‘Insomnia’ attacks American foreign policy and the Iraq war, particularly on ‘Suffa’, the upcoming new single, for which a video has just been shot.

(hed)p.e., one of the West Coast’s top hardcore bands, released their self-titled debut album, in June 1997, and immediately won over huge numbers of critics and fans in both America, the UK (where sales exceeded 20,000) and Europe. (hed)p.e. hit the road with Ozzfest on both sides of the water in 1998, also touring with bands like Korn, Static-X and System Of A Down.

(hed)p.e.’s second album, ‘Broke’, released in 2000, spawned the top 30 US single ‘Bartender’, and sold over half a million copies - 30,000 in the UK alone. (hed)p.e. subsequently toured with Slipknot, P.O.D. and Godsmack, before recording their 2003 album ‘Blackout’. While ‘Blackout’ boasted a big hit single in the form of the album’s title track, the band had been pressurised to pursue a more mainstream, accessible sound by their record label at the time, so they ended that deal and in 2005 signed to the massive independent lifestyle record label Suburban Noize. The first fruit of that deal, ‘Back To Base X’, released in 2006, marked a totally unconstrained return to conviction and their classic heady ‘G-Punk’ roots, and won rave reviews in the UK.

"We're not afraid to punch you in the throat with one song and get you stoned with the next joint we play,” says frontman Jahred. “We're down to prove that you don't have to bow down to the corporate suits in order to make an impact on music. I'd rather have true fans that stick around because they are actually into the band, as opposed to fans who like to be spoon-fed through the media.”
