NEW SINGLE, US WARPED TOUR, UK DATES

Tatiana - guitar/vocals / Tim - guitar / Spreader - bass / Robin - drums

A three-piece kick-ass rock band, TAT is fronted by talented 20-year-old songwriter Tatania DeMaria, with Nick Kent on bass and vocals and Jake Reed on drums and vocals. TAT have had their fair share of touring over the last 2 years, opening for a bunch of great bands such as THE OFFSPRING, THE START and THERAPY?, as well as playing the Reading Festival and last year’s DOWNLOAD Festival, for which they received a 4K review in KERRANG!.

They have progressed through Europe through the independent release of their debut single 'Peace, Sex and Tea', which did well in the UK with support from Steve Lamacq (‘Single Of The Week’) and XFM’s Ian Camfield, sat in the Maltese top ten for 6 weeks and saw them through an arena tour of Poland. TAT also played a host of festivals last summer, where they were filmed for a documentary on the band by Extreme Sports Channel - the music on the last single, Pessimist, is taken from this documentary, and includes two songs recorded at the band’s Reading Festival show.
TAT are now recording their debut album but have managed to escape from the studio to make occasional forays around the UK’s gig circuit to an ever-growing fanbase…which is displayed admirably by the near-50,000 plays on their MySpace page, and over 5,000 single sales last year in the UK alone.

The band now release Champagne, Cocaine and Strawberries…some might say the perfect sentiment for the coming months! After a handful of UK dates TAT are off to the USA to play the WARPED Tour, then return to the UK in August for more live shows…

CHAMPAGNE, COCAINE AND STRAWBERRIES is released on JULY 3RD 2006 on Ex Records

TAT: BIOGRAPHY

TAT is a four-piece Rock band; "just real guitars, bass, drums and no bullshit categories" says Tatiana DeMaria, TAT's songwriter, lead singer and one of the band's two guitarists, a rare talent in an exuberant, teenage package.

But let Tatiana begin. "I was born in West London in 1985 but after a few years my family moved to Paris. It was there that I fell in love with punk, when the 'big boys' on the school bus would play tapes packed with punk anthems. That's where my education really started - NOFx, Greenday, The Offspring, Rancid, The Clash, The Pistols, Bad Religion. It was THE shit. In 1997 I went to my first Greenday concert, started playing the guitar and formed my first band. Ever since, I've been in and out of bands. Seven years later here I am with TAT".

The TAT story begins when in desperation, trying to get heard, Tatiana realised that she needed to get some of her songs down as demos. She had moved back to London in 1999 when she was aged 14 and found life quite depressing. She says: "the only thing that made me feel better was punk and its intoxicatingly happy rhythms. Rancid became my saving grace. I started seriously writing songs and playing with different bands, which never really lasted, so I was constantly looking for band-mates, to a point where I even taught some of my school friends how to play." Early in 2003 she met to Tim Vanderkuil, who at the time was guitarist and singer in The Vegastones and asked Tim to help her make some demos. The two of them clicked as musicians and became good friends during the six months she spent hanging out at Tim's after school whilst putting down her songs. The next step was taken when "Tim really liked my stuff and we started to play together then we started TAT". With Tim and Tatiana on guitars, Spreader on bass and Damonski on drums the band came together at the end of 2003 and then in March 2004 Robin Guy (ex of Rachel Stamp) replaced Damonski.

But before TAT came together as a band, Producer Mark Wallis had heard some the demos that Tim and Tatiana had made and he offered to record one of them. Mark shares his studio down in South London with Dave Ruffy, who was the drummer in the legendary English punk band The Ruts (Babylon's Burning). Mark asked Dave to play on the track and then Dave brought in The Ruts' old guitarist, Paul Cox. Together with Tatiana they recorded the storming "(I don't want to) Love you" in April 2003.

But after doing that recording, Tatiana had to take 3 months out from music, to catch-up and cram for her A-levels. Then in September 2003 she made the momentous decision not to go to University (she had a place at Bristol) but to get into her music - big style and full time.

"Full time" meant first rehearsing TAT up and then in November last year recording another of Tatiana's songs for the first time as a band - "You Hero" - again produced by Mark Wallis. Then in December and January 2004 TAT recorded a third track, this time with Steve Power, which turned out to be the "A" side of first single, "Peace Sex & Tea". "PS&T" needed a video and veteran Director Tony Vandenende (famous for all the early Manic Street Preachers Videos) stepped up, shooting the band at Bush Rehearsals, The Barfly and The Garage and then hitting the streets of London with Tatiana during a snowstorm in February. Further recordings were done in March and April again as band but this time with Tim in the Producer seat, when they put down two of Tatiana's newest songs "Bloodstain" and "Live For Rock", both of which are included on the single, which was released on August 2nd 2004 on EX Records, the label owned by The Extreme Sports Channel.

TIME OUT said of "Peace Sex & Tea" : "sure these pop-punk sounds are MTV friendly but there's also wit involved …Lead singer Tatiana puts the world to rights with the assurance only a 19 year old (or Steve Earle) can muster …Perfect, really" and KERRANG! said "…her band's upbeat and chirpy brand of skanking pop-punk … is possessed of an infectious enthusiasm that's hard to ignore, and is a million miles more likeable than Avril's slick pop pap".

At the end of 2003 TAT was taken on by the Mean Fiddler Agency and started gigging, mainly in London and around the country. Then in March 2004 the "live" work started to really get serious and TAT got to play all the London venues Tatiana used to go to as a fan - The Underworld, The Garage, The Barfly, The Carling Academy and even U.L.U., where TAT opened for the two bands on Dexter Holland's Nitro label - Rufio and The Start. Thanks to The Offspring's manager who had heard a couple of TAT tracks and played them to the band, TAT was also invited to open for The Offspring in Paris on March 16th. What a return it turned out to be for Tatiana, back to "where it all started". TAT got an unbelievable reaction from the French fans, more than 100 of who signed up to the Official TAT Website immediately after the show (www.tatness.com).

TAT were out gigging again through June, July and August including the NASS Festival in Bath; Newquay Animal Beach Ball and a superb and noteworthy set at the Reading Festival. And all through the summer of 2004 "Peace Sex & Tea" Director Tony Vandenende followed Tatiana and the band on behalf of The Extreme Sports Channel, filming a record of Tatiana's summer that premiered on October 2nd on The Extreme Sports Channel as a 1-hour documentary titled "Another Wasted Summer". Playing all though October in the UK and November in Europe, "Another Wasted Summer" is getting superb reaction from TAT fans old and new.

TAT have also been back in the Studio, at Overtones in London (with help from their "Fast Track" Scheme) to do some more recording, with Tim Vanderkuil at the controls and Dave Ruffy again sitting in on drums (Robin was away in America). TAT's 2nd single, comprising three "live" tracks, two of which ("Bloodstain" and "Pessimist") were recorded at Reading Festival and the third "Happiness" earlier in the year in London, is scheduled for November 15th release.
