New band: gigs, debut single imminent!

The beginnings of Circlesound weren't exactly your most conventional of meetings: singer David Lloyd and drummer Bernie McCarthy happened to be on a river raft, dressed as spacemen, throwing cow shit at each other… Bernie, and guitarist Luke Woods, persuaded Dave to help them form a band that would ‘define a generation’. The jigsaw was completed with the enlisting of Chris Legg on bass.

Touring various venues all over the UK and having supported a growing list of many new acts, including The Departure, The Editors, Maximo Park and The Longcut.

Manchester's City Life magazine said “guitars jangle with the intelligent restraint of Johnny Marr” whilst others have used 80's legends, The Cult, as their chosen reference. Circlesound continue to build an enviable reputation in their adopted hometown of Manchester: recently play-listed by local new music champion Terry Christian, Circlesound have also been touted as the UK's best unsigned act by The Storm 97.6fm – “The best guitar band in the last 3 years…Circlesound are going to be massive!”. Circlesound are featured on 'Rock The Underground' with a distribution base of 50,000 copies to several major colleges throughout the US and Canada, and as a result the band have had their songs play-listed by many Stateside radio stations. Further projects include two songs on the soundtrack to independent film, 'Expiry Date', an O'Neill Extreme Sports DVD, and a guest vocal for lead singer David Lloyd on Chicane's soon to be released album.

On top of winning XFM’s X-Posure Unsigned and the Manchester leg of Lee Sounds Unsigned (judged by NME writers), they have been invited to play at this year’s Reading and Leeds Carling Frestivals, as well as Guilfest and Wakestock.

It looks like Circlesound won’t be staying Britain’s best-kept secret much longer.

CIRCLESOUND have recently signed with Reverb, and are currently recording their debut album, with the first single due out this summer.
