JOHN DIVA & THE ROCKETS OF LOVE

***CLASSIC HARD ROCKERS' SOPHOMORE 'AMERICAN AMADEUS' ALBUM RELEASED JANUARY 15TH ON STEAMHAMMER / SPV***

"What will surprise you is the quality of the material on offer. It's almost as if the makers of 'Rock Of Ages' had said "We want to make a sequel, but this time we want an all-original score, such is the grand vision the band have more or less delivered here... There's plenty of famous reference points to get your teeth into – Whitesnake, Aerosmith and Van Halen for a start. Poison crop up from time to time (the less trashy, more commercial variant) and Bon Jovi naturally. There's a smidgeon of Journey, a soupcon of Night Ranger, a hint of Guns N Roses and a sneaky thumbs-up to the Scorpions... The playing is spot on, the hooks come thick and fast (and more importantly, last for days) and the general joie-de-vivre captures that era better than anything I've heard in an absolute age!" (Dave Cockett, Fireworks Magazine, April 2019).

"Fusing sleaze, melodic metal and AOR, this debut harks back to 80s stadium rock and gives it a fresh energy. Packed full of killer riffs and sparkling solos, great rhythms and strong vocals with well crafted backing harmonies, it's an upbeat and engaging listen. 'Whiplash' opens proceedings with a melodic bang, killer guitars and rapid-fire drums pushing the pace. By contrast, 'Lolita' has a sunny California style reminiscent of an 80s high school movie soundtrack, while 'Rock 'N' Roll Heaven' has a swampy, Southern twang and a tub thumping rhythm." (Claire Huckett, Black Velvet Magazine Feb. 2019.)

John Diva & The Rockets Of Love, the dynamic, hugely talented young Rock 'N' Roll quintet who definitively bring a massive breath of fresh air to eighties style classic rock music, have confirmed the release of their glorious second album 'American Amadeus', on Steamhammer / SPV on January 15th as a Digipak CD (inc. poster), double gatefold 140 gram black vinyl LP (with printed inner sleeves + bonus tracks), download and stream.

'Drip Drip Baby' has just been taken as a single from the album. You can view the video here:

John Diva & The Rockets Of Love's debut album, 'Mama Said Rock Is Dead', which crashed in to the German National Album Chart at number 24 when unleashed by Steamhammer in February 2019, spawned a slew of triumphantly sold out headline tours all around Germany and Europe.

What, therefore, could have been more natural than them adhering to exactly the same 80's glam rock inspired recipe for success for their sophomore offering, 'American Amadeus'? But no, as lead singer John Diva, whose powerful, expressive vocals layer all the band's humerous lyrics with intelligent and onomatopoeic innuendo, points out; "That was never even an option for us. On the contrary: the challenge lies in growing, testing boundaries and inventing yourself over and over again on an artistic level. Stagnation means regression, so with 'American Amadeus' we are definitely going one step further."

Guitarist Snake Rocket reflects that "Our major tour for 'Mama Said Rock Is Dead' has had a positive impact on us. Thanks to the thoroughly positive feedback for our first album and its great reception at concerts, we're going out on a limb even more with 'American Amadeus': our hard songs are even harder and faster, our flashy pieces even flashier."

Like its predecessor, 'American Amadeus' is packed with killer – stick-in-your-head-for-days melodies, riffs and choruses, but the new songs go even further, cross referencing not only stalwarts such as Van Halen, Mötley Crüe or Def Leppard, but also 70's rock legends like The Who, Kiss in their early years, and Black Sabbath.

Never is this more evident than on the epic title track 'American Amadeus', which is brimming with pomp, pathos, glamour and decadence. This flair is also expressed in the accompanying video clip, which can only be described as opulent. "To us, 'American Amadeus' is the perfect title track because it demonstrates the whole range of our stylistic repertoire" John Diva explains, continuing; "The song is glamorous, playfully electrifying and combines European high culture with American trash culture."

Much the same can be said for the first single 'Bling Bling Marilyn', which was written by lead singer John Diva with Hannes Braun (Kissin' Dynamite), who contributed valuable ideas to no less than 3 more songs. "We're really happy with the collaboration", the band enthuse, "especially as the fans will definitely be noticing his style in 'Bling Bling Marilyn'." The same applies to Michael Voss (Mad Max, Michael Schenker), who co-composed 'Champagne On Mars' and 'This Is Rock 'n' Roll' and who plays a banjo slide solo in 'Voodoo Sex & Vampires'.

The new single and video for Drip Drip Baby' is out now and, can be viewed here and is available on all digital platforms here.

JOHN DIVA & THE ROCKETS OF LOVE

***CLASSIC HARD ROCKERS' DEBUT 'MAMA SAID ROCK IS DEAD' ALBUM RELEASED FEBRUARY 8TH ON STEAMHAMMER / SPV***

John Diva & the Rockets of Love, an exuberant Rock 'N' Roll (with a capital 'N') quintet who bring a breath of fresh air to eighties style classic rock music, have confirmed the release of their cc as a digipak CD (with double sided fold-out poster), double gatefold 180 gram green with black swirls vinyl LP (+ CD in paper sleeve & 4 page poster booklet), download and stream.

'Lolita', the soaring first single from the album, released on November 23rd, which will be accompanied by a fittingly light video clip featuring scantily clad girls and sunlit beach scenes, is a glorious taster of the twelve classy compositions contained on this superlative collection. Packed with anthemic choruses, smooth riffs and supersonic guitar solos, 'Mama Said Rock Is Dead' is a magnificent melodic metal triumph which more than belies the album's tongue-in-cheek title.

The rightful heirs of an era in which Van Halen, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, Scorpions, Guns N' Roses and Mötley Crüe rocked the world and rampaged the planet; John Diva is charged US entertainment at its very best.

But who are John Diva & The Rockets Of Love? First and foremost, there's their vocalist John Diva, who, with a knowing twinkle in his eyes, sings about the great adventure that is being a celebrated rock star. No surprises there, with his life story; "I was raised by a mother who worked hard and rocked harder", Diva reminisces. "She was a fan, a groupie, always hanging out at the clubs. My childhood was one big after-show party." As a songwriter for the stars, Diva later on helped create the sound that would soon afterwards be known as stadium rock.

The blonde Adonis describes 'Mama Said Rock Is Dead' as follows: "It's a trip for those who have lived and loved Rock'N'Roll, for all those who still do so and for all the millions of people who up to now didn't even know what they've been missing. We're having a party as big as the eighties and you're invited to let your imagination take flight by my wild and wonderful life."

At John Diva's side are the guitarists Snake Rocket and J.J. Love, bassist Remmie Martin and drummer Lee Stingray jr. (drums) who, in previous years, have pulled off their spectacular performances in front of thousands of fans; three times at the Wacken Open Air Festival already. Once you have witnessed this band on stage, you know how exciting and stimulating strenuous Rock'N'Roll can be.

All twelve songs were produced by Michael Voss (Mad Max, Michael Schenker, Tony Carey et al) in the 'Gizmo 7 Studios' in Malaga, Spain, the 'Principal Studios' and the 'Kidroom Studio' in Münster, with Chris von Rohr (Krokus, Gotthard) as creative supervisor. A dream team of international renown with the experience of real Rock'N'Rollers.

'Mama Said Rock Is Dead' is an album where the crazy times of early years meet the drive and energy of oncoming further crazy nights; it is nothing less than a credo, a prayer and a homage to all those who have paved the way for John Diva & The Rockets Of Love. It's a farewell to all the greats of the genre and beyond – to Lemmy, Bon Scott as well as to David Bowie, Janis Joplin or Jimi Hendrix – and a proud statement: Thank you my idol, I'll take it from here!
