LITA FORD

***Legendary Female Metal Icon’s March 12th London Islington Academy Gig Announced***

Legendary US female metal icon Lita Ford, one of the primary goddesses of hard rock, has lined up a headline concert at London’s Islington Academy on March 12th, two days after headlining the HRH/AOR Festival in Wales on March 10th. Tickets are on sale now from Ticket Web here.

Lita’s last album, ‘Time Capsule’, a very special collection of previously unheard recordings, was released in April 2016 on Steamhammer/SPV, to coincide with the publication of her soul baring autobiography, ‘Living Like A Runaway: Lita Ford, A Memoir’, documenting her journey from all girl band The Runaways to major solo successes.

Classic Rock reviewed ‘Time Capsule’ in their June 2016 issue, stating “‘Time Capsule’ unearths various ‘lost’ recordings from the late 1980’s and features starry cameos including Gene Simmons, Dave Navarro and Chris Holmes. These are pop-metal anthems from a pre-grunge age of innocence…Ford has few rivals in the croaky-voiced, widescreen, ladymetal power-ballad league, as she proves with the Bonnie-Tyler sized ‘Killing Kind’ and the brooding ‘King Of The Wild Wind’, which combines a Spinal Tap-worthy title with an epic Paradise City-style blow-out finale” (Stephen Dalton).

Lita’s most recent studio album, ‘Living Like A Runaway’, released in June 2012 on SPV, was widely hailed as a magnificent return to form after a 13 year plus hiatus. Metal Hammer’s Dave Ling reviewed the album in the magazine’s August 2012 issue, stating “Created with the help of friends like Nikki Sixx and Whitesnake guitarist Doug Aldrich, ‘Living Like A Runaway’ sees her single and refocused, tapping back into a signature sound that sold a million copies of her 1988 album ‘Lita’. Contempt for her former beau rains down throughout, but whilst ‘Hate’ and ‘The Mask’ crackle with negative chi, ‘Relentless’, the title track and a balladic ode to her kids called ‘Mother’ achieve a satisfying blend of empowerment and radio-friendly accessibility, that returns her mojo back to full working order.”

A British born rocker who grew up on the streets of L.A., Lita Ford was a founding member of the Runaways, one of the first girl groups who unexpectedly broke down barriers in the punk era as well as the male-dominated world of rock music, causing a stir with their six rebellious releases. Following the demise of the Runaways, Lita concentrated on her own career, subsequently creating such memorable hits as ‘Close Your Eyes Forever’, ‘What Do You Know About Love’, ‘Shot Of Poison’, ‘Larger Than Life’ and ‘Kiss Me Deadly’.

***BRAND NEW ‘THE BITCH IS BACK…LIVE’ ALBUM UNLEASHED OCTOBER 28TH ON STEAMHAMMER / SPV***

“Created with the help of friends like Nikki Sixx and Whitesnake guitarist Doug Aldridge, ‘Living Like A Runaway’ sees her single and refocused, tapping back into a signature sound that sold a million copies of her 1988 album, ‘Lita’. Contempt for her former beau rains down throughout, but whilst ‘Hate’ and ‘The Mask’ crackle with negative chi, ‘Relentless’, the title track and a balladic ode to her kids called ‘Mother’ achieve a satisfying blend of empowerment and radio-friendly accessibility, that returns her mojo back to full working order.” Dave Ling, Metal Hammer, August 2012.

“Ex-Runaways rock queen Lita Ford cranks her rig up to maximum for an overdriven, all out punk missive. Motivational rock for those who like it straight in the eyeballs.’ Steve Bailey, Guitar Magazine, August 2012.

Legendary female metal icon Lita Ford, one of the primary goddesses of hard rock, is set to unleash a brand new live album, ‘The Bitch Is Back…Live’, as a 12 track digipak CD, containing a special booklet featuring various fan photos, on Steamhammer / SPV on October 28th.

‘The Bitch Is Back…Live’ was recorded at the Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, California, in October 2012, hot on the heels of the release of 2012’s hugely acclaimed comeback studio album, ‘Living Like A Runaway’. Kicking off with her rousing rendition of Elton John’s ‘The Bitch Is Back’, released as a bonus track on ‘Living Like A Runaway’, Lita and her band triumphantly romp through prime cuts from the new album, plus select classic hit singles.

Lita’s scintillating live set was caught at Wolf Den, Uncasville, Connecticut, on January 26th 2013, by Powerplay’s Tony Pijar, who stated in his review in the magazine’s April 2013 issue that “Ford was all smiles as she and her band displayed a tightness that was uncanny. This was, for sure, a throwback show to the prolific hair days of the 80’s, but Ford is no nostalgia act, especially when she continues to release quality albums. Speaking of which, ‘Living Like A Runaway’ kind of reminds me of her long lost band the Runaways. ‘Back To The Cave’, the revving ‘Can’t Catch Me’, ‘Hungry’ and ‘Under The Gun’ were all prime slices of short, catchy metal with guitarist Mitch Perry in fine form. His leads were concise, memorable and impacting no flash, just substance. This was straight-up, in-your-face, rock’n’roll. ‘Relentless’, another new song, was a heavy, mid-paced song with a killer riff. ‘Hate’, also new, rode on a simple, yet effective, bass line courtesy of Mike O’Brien. ‘Dancing On The Edge’, ‘Close My Eyes Forever’ and ‘Kiss Me Deadly’ put things into perspective – Ford deserves to be recognized as a consummate hard rock songwriter, performer and musician.”

***BRAND NEW ‘LIVING LIKE A RUNAWAY’ STUDIO ALBUM UNLEASHED JUNE 18TH
ON SPV / STEAMHAMMER***

Legendary female metal icon Lita Ford has inked a worldwide deal with SPV’s Steamhammer label to release her brand new, ten track tour de force studio album, ‘Living Like A Runaway’, on June 18th.

‘Living Like A Runaway’, which will be released as a limited edition digipak CD featuring two bonus tracks and a poster, as a gatefold double vinyl LP, a standard jewel case CD and an exclusive itunes version with bonus track, is, not to put too fine a point on it, her best album since 1988’s smash ‘Lita’ Long Player.

Lita Ford teamed up with producer Gary Hoey And lyricist Michael Dan Ehmig to write and record ‘Living Like A Runaway’, an intensely personal collection, the title of which has two deep and distinct meanings. One refers to her first band the Runaways, with whom she achieved international breakthrough success while a member between 1975 and 1980. The second is of a much more personal nature. “There have been days in my life when I ran away, when I was unhappy and had to get out of my previous life,” Lita confesses. “It‘s like walking through fire and being able to come through the other side unscathed.” She continues; “I wanted to write an album which gives people courage, inspires them and gives them new power, in other words the power of music. As it has done for me on difficult days, I want this music to help people to get through tough times, while remembering their happy times as well. It’s happened to me plenty of times: fans come up to me and tell me how my songs have helped them in difficult situations, in a way it is almost like a soundtrack to their lives.”

The team invested a lot of time and effort in ‘Living Like A Runaway’: “We worked on the lyrics intensively to really give the songs a lot of meaning and that special emotional depth. I think that these are some of the best lyrics ever, period” proudly states Lisa, referring to numbers such as ‘Devil In My Head’, ‘Hate’ and ‘The Asylum’, which sees her bare her soul in a way which she has never done before.

Lita additionally focused at great length with Hoey on writing and arranging the prolific beautiful and melodic guitar harmonies on ‘Living Like A Runaway’, which, unlike many albums today, is a body of work that truly must be heard in its entirety from start to finish. “Listeners shouldn’t pick out individual tracks but listen to the full album,” says Ford. “It’s a fascinating musical journey, inspired by Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side of the Moon’. I had seen a documentary about ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ and it really motivated me to focus on ‘Living Like a Runaway’ as a whole journey rather just an individual song.”

Mötley Crüe’s Nikki Sixx contributed ‘A Song To Slit Yours Wrists By’, the final track on the album, which Lita transformed into a nasty, industrial style track with a real ‘Feck You!’ attitude. Guitarist Doug Aldrich provided the riffs and chorus melody on one bonus track, ‘Bad Neighbourhood’, which Lita states “is a high energy guitar riff that carries the song”, while Elton John gave his blessing for Lita to cover his classic ‘The Bitch Is Back’, featuring special guests the Uptown Horns, for the second bonus track.

A British born rocker who grew up on the streets of L.A., Lita Ford was a founding member of the Runaways, one of the first girl groups who unexpectedly broke down barriers in the punk era as well as the male-dominated world of rock music, causing a stir with their six rebellious releases. Following the demise of the Runaways, Lita concentrated on her own career and now looks back on many memorable hits including: ‘Close Your Eyes Forever’, the chart topping duet with Ozzy Osbourne, and solo smashes such as ‘What Do You Know About Love’, ‘Shot Of Poison’, ‘Larger Than Life’ and ‘Kiss Me Deadly’. Now ‘Living Like A Runaway’, which is packed with many more potential hits, marks a massive new milestone on the musical path of Lita Ford, the undisputed queen of Hard Rock.
